Acne blemishes are one of the most common causes of despair among people. After all, acne affects more than 90% of people especially in the ages of 15-25 years. It is again a myth that acne affects only in the teens. The truth is that adult acne is more reason of anguish with acne blemishes, pimple marks and acne scars make people feel embarrassed!
Blemishes from pimples
Acne blemishes are the acne scars which may be brown, black even red in color left as marks on the cheeks, chin, nose, forehead which make people conscious and have low self esteem! Acne blemishes are caused because of the deterioration of skin pigment in and around the acne site. This causes discoloration of the skin and even sometimes loss of collagen.
Types of acne blemishes
There are 4 types of blemishes or scars that are left on the face after the acne disappears. They are:
- Ice-pick scars: these are the most common acne blemishes which leave “pit” like depressions on the acne-prone skin.
- Box-car scars: these acne blemishes look more like chicken-pox scars that may be either deep or superficial.
- Rolling scars: These acne blemishes give a wave-like appearance on the face and skin.
- Hypertrophic scars: These scars are thickened acne blemishes.
How to get rid of blemishes from acne?
Acne blemishes can be treated using certain natural homemade remedies, such as:
- Take baking soda and mix it with little amount of water to make a paste. Massage it gently on the acne blemishes. Leave on for 10 minutes and then wash it off! Regular application of this paste helps in lightening the skin blemishes.
- Pimple marks can be lightened by application of lemon juice to which cucumber juice has been mixed. It might take a little longer to heal the blemishes, yet this mixture would control the oiliness of the kin and lighten the acne scars.
- Tomato juice can also be applied on the acne-prone skin to tighten the pores and lighten the pimple marks.
- Regular application of pimple gels such as Acnezine, Clean and Clear pimple cream can be effective in treating the acne and even lightening the scars.
If the blemishes left by the acne are deep and more obvious, it is advisable to use laser therapy or chemical peeling to lighten and even get rid of pimple marks.
A regular healthy skin care regime should be followed to control the problem of acne first.
