Acne affects a great deal of people than one can imagine. It is known to despair more than 90% of the people especially in the ages of 15-30 years. Oily skin acne conditions are worse because people with oily skins are more prone to their sebaceous glands going haywire and producing loads of oil on face chin and backs. However, it is not true that all oily skinned people get acne out breaks. Yes, they have a high probability of getting pimples because of the oily skins that they have.
Acne in oily skin
People with oily skin are characterized by open skin pores, shiny noses and most importantly pimple break-outs! Oily skin acne is a common condition because the pores of the skin get clogged with sebum and dead skin cells. Sometimes, these clogged pores would cause inflammation which is –acne or pimples.
Skin care regime for oily skin acne
- Always wash your face twice in a day. But avoid excessive washing of the face otherwise it may cause drying of the skin and more pimples at the end!
- Drink 8-10 glasses of water and take a diet rich in salads, soups and grains.
- One can use medicated acne face wash followed with application of acne cream which not only reduces the oiliness of the acne-prone skin area but also lighten acne scars.
- Do not apply a thick layer of the pimple creams, this may only cause excess skin drying. Use popular skin care pimple creams, which are known to effectively reduce acne. Always follow up this routine with application of an oil-free moisturizer and oil free sun block.
- Always remove make-up before retiring to bed.
- Avoid application of thick heavy creams as their by-products are known to mix with the sebum of the oily skin and cause blackheads and whiteheads.
Tackling oily skin pimples
Apart from taking over the counter creams which contain salicylic acids or benzoyl peroxides, one can also accept some simple home-made remedies to treat oily skin.
- Mix 1 tsp of lemon juice and 1 tsp of rose water. Shake it and apply on the face. Leave it on for 30 minutes and then wash it away. The astringent properties of lemon juice help in tightening the pores and also absorbing the excess oil from the skin.
- Oily skins are most beneficial if face packs are applied on the face regularly. Mud packs containing tea-tree oils can be applied on the face which not only absorb the excess oil from the face but also lighten away acne scars.
- Blend some papaya pieces with honey and lemon juice. Massage the mixture on the face and leave it on for 30 minutes and then wash the face. Fresh fruits have alpha-hydroxy acids which control the oiliness of the skin and gently moisturize it.
