Diabetes is actually not the direct cause of any type of joint deformities but it may contribute to several factors responsible for joint aches. People who are suffering from diabetes are likely to develop a variety of joint related problems. Joint pain in diabetes is quite common and the disorders like the neuropathy or nerve damage, problems in blood circulation, atrophy or shrinking of muscles and obesity are the additional inflictions on the diabetic patients.

The following are the joint related disorders that are generally associated with diabetes.

Charcot's joint – Due to the occurrence of the diabetes the nerve gets damaged which is termed as neuropathy and in turn causes the quality of the joint to deteriorate. It leads to the destruction of the total bone structure. The disorder mainly affects the joints of the feet. A feeling of numbness or a tingling sensation persists in the feet when affected. The feet would become swollen and deformed in form. As a pain remission, generally the weight exerted on the affected joint is reduced by using crutches and braces. Surgery is normally avoided as a recovery treatment.

The charcot’s joint affects 15 % of the diabetic patients and those who are suffering from the type 1 diabetes are more susceptible to the disease due to the occurrence of complicated nerve damage.

Diabetic Hand Syndrome – This syndrome is characterized by the thickening and tightening of the skin of the hands. The skin texture becomes waxy in nature and hampers movement of the joints. Diabetic hand syndrome is also known as Diabetic cheiroarthropathy and stiff-hand syndrome can cause inability to stretch hands and press the palms together. Usually patients suffering from type 1 diabetes are affected by the disease but the disorder can also occur in patients of type2 diabetes. Strict control of the blood sugar level or hand therapy in order to improve joint movement can cure the affected joints of the hand.

Osteoporosis Osteoporosis is the condition in which the bones become extremely weak and brittle in nature. Even basic joint movements required for bending, stretching or coughing may develop a fracture. The normal mineral content density of the bones decreases and people who are suffering from the type 1 diabetes are at the risk of being affected by the disorder.

Osteoarthritis – Is a bone degenerative in nature where the cartilage lining of the bones of the joints gets damaged which results in stiffness and intense pain.

Diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis - Diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis, in short is know as DISH is a skeletal disorder where the bony structures develop on the tendons and ligaments attached to the bones.

Dupuytren's contracture – It is also a type of bone deformity where the fingers bend due to the thickening of the connective tissue called the fascia.

Forzen Shoulder – It hampers the joint movement of the shoulders and the disease mainly attacks a single shoulder.

Taking the help of supplements like the Joint Advance will help patients to be away from such types of joint pain in diabetes. Before taking up the supplement, you are advised to consult a certified physician.
